Thanks Todd.
Rittich was great, the team played a complete game. A refreshing change. I suspect the Leafs will be a bit more (aware/focused/hungry?) tomorrow night. One game doesn't make the season but a much, much better effort and yes Leaf fans, we do know you had a few players out.

The PP chances given up are a concern but the PK was solid. Chucky came to play. The Tavares hit was testament to that.

What's the injury to Markstrom?

Marky is on the trip so it cant be that serious.
My guess is he has seen a lot of rubber and has some bruises to heal. I bet he starts against the Sens Thursday.

Can't win rounds in the playoffs without 4 ilnes. Congrats on the regular season victory.

At least the team can shut-out and outscore Toronto when the Maple Leafs are using a 4th string goalie and dressing half their farm team.

Nevertheless, its nice to see a well deserved Flames victory. Perhaps opponents will not be so overconfident in the future.

----
Edit: For those unaware, a quick search reveals the following list of 8 Maple Leaf players dressed last night that are usually taxi squad or off roster.

Taxi Squad: Barbanov, Engvall, Dermott, Lehtonen
In season Call-ups: Petan, Boyd, Hutchinson, Woll

What’s wrong with Toronto’s other 3 goalies? Please give us a list of all the AHL players, don’t know the Leafs roster we’ll enough.

Shouldn't MVP Matthews have just stepped it up then?

Totally explains why Matthews, Marner and Tavares couldn’t score on their seven power plays.

I liked that we applied pressure to the leafs when they were in our zone and not giving anything easy.

Another thing we did well was clogging up the neutral zone, many of the leafs highlights are those cross-ice one timers and we did a good job of defending that. Also helping out our goalie, whenever chaos did ensue around rittich there was always 2-3 guys there to help prevent an easy tap in.

I would recommend staying out of the box more but I also think guys on both teams started going down easy after finding out how this game was going to be reffed.

Maybe watch a game or two. The team has been playing much better in the first for a while now. They've had some bad luck and got McDavided, but as a team, their firsts have been pretty good.

Just like last night, biggest difference was luck. Bennett's goal was lucky as were the posts the Leafs hit. Exact same game but those go the other way, and people are back to jumping.

So the excuses were hot and heavy on Toronto radio last night. It was actually nauseating... from Hutchison being in, to playing down to their Opponent. Muzzin hurt. Not once did that say that the flames actually played a pretty decent game. I do expect a slightly different T O team. Wednesday, but I really hope a flames win just so I can hear the excuses again.......

Yeah 💯 that was a horribly reffed game both ways. Let the guys play and call the obvious one.
Refs this year seem to be dictating the flow of games. And how teams play

Totally agree! The game could have been totally different if Mathews hit the open net. If a couple of the posts and crossbar went in, but they didn’t. The flames chances went in leafs didn’t. Kinda like the flames oilers game on Saturday. Hutchison I thought played fine he made some good saves as well. He wasn’t a difference maker but he didn’t loose the leafs the game. They lost fair and square. Move on to the next one..

Andersen injured sat night against mtl

Backup Campbell hasn’t played since thachuk “accidentally” fell on him last month

Dell was suppose to be the 3rd stringer but leafs had some cap and injury problems early and tried to pass him through waivers and add him to the taxi squad but he was claimed by jersey.

Then hutch. All leaf fans hate hutch from last year. He started like 7 or 8 times and was winless. He stunk.

Give it a break... Campbell was injured long before that play. Look to your coach for keeping him in when he was clearly injured.

Losing Dell was cap management at its worst and the risk the Leafs took coming into the year against the cap.

Your team is good. They were shorthanded last night and I'm sure will play better tomorrow. Excuses are like bumholes, everyone's got one. Well not everyone but you know what I mean.
